Two is based on a working-mantra: two things. Each painting represents a possible outcome for this mantra. Two things operates as a guide for making comparisons with both infinite and limited potential: fast/slow, light/dark, zero/infinity, big/small. These comparisons range in opposition, similarity and contrast. Binary formal, chromatic and conceptual relationships lead to tension and precariousness rather than harmony or balance. Two employs faith, while maintaining skepticism, uncertainty, belief and disbelief.
